The Asian
Presidents’ Council (APC) is founded on the millennium year 2000,
affiliated with the Department of Multicultural Services (DMS) which
aims to unite and strengthen the Asian students and organizations of
Texas A&M University.
Serving as the umbrella
organization for all Asian groups on campus, our mission is
to increase communication, provide leadership training to the
presidents and the officers, and promoting campus awareness
on
Asian culture. Through bi-weekly meetings of the Asian organization
presidents, APC serves as a bridge for the presidents to communicate
with school administrators, with other student leaders, and
among ourselves. APC also serves as a forum for discussion
on campus
issues, educational issues and cultural issues. Great minds
here cross at the Asian Presidents’ Council; constructive ideas
and inspirations that will make an impact on campus generates
on
our Council meetings, where concerns are shared, and problems
are
solved.
The two big events that Asian Presidents’ Council
hosts with the support of all Asian organizations are the annual
Asian Freshman Welcome Week Conference and the Asian Heritage
Week. Asian Freshmen Welcome Week Conference takes place in
late August,
with the aims to get new Asian freshmen acquainted to college
life in Aggie Land, and broaden their vision. Asian Heritage
Week is
a
week-long celebration with its goal to create an environment
for Asian culture and knowledge education on campus, and to
cultivate an
appreciation towards Asian arts and tradition.
